Dear Santa,
I know you're busy this time of year, so I'll keep this short. I'm writing to make sure you consider putting Aidan, Cole and Grant on your "nice" list.
I know you understand that all children have their good days and bad days - even good moments can quickly be followed by bad ones. It's part of being a kid. And it's true that they probably did have a fight over a toy, like you mentioned when they saw you, and yes, Grant has trouble keeping his clothes off his floor. You really do keep an eye on things, don't you?
Sure, I come home from work only to have the first thing the boys tell me is how one of them kicked him in the face, or he got poked in the eye, or how someone said a word he wasn't supposed to. Was I any different when I was a kid? I think not.
The fact is, they're good boys. Consider how Cole's teacher recently told me about Aidan and Cole, "They are so wonderful. You are truly blessed." And remember how Coach Marco and the Patriots team mom this year went on and on about how well-behaved Aidan is, and what a pleasure it is to have him on the team? Doesn't that outweigh a few bad decisions, like taking your brother's toy, or antagonizing someone, or not listening? I would hope so. Don't forget how Officer Garcia chose Aidan out of all the other Cub Scouts, because he'd been such a good and respectful listener. As for Grant, he may forget to clean up his toys or destroy them when he's in a bad mood, but one of the moms who volunteers in his class recently told me what a good student he is, and what a nice boy he is in class.
I'm sure know all of this already. I just thought that, if it's not too late, I'd put in a good word for the boys. They have their moments, but we all do. Please, Santa, consider putting them on the "nice" list this year?
Thanks in advance, and have a merry Christmas. We'll leave cookies and a carrot out for you and the reindeer.
Love,
Steve
